What is Booom! The Magic Chemistry Kit?
Booom! The Magic Chemistry Kit (Kit) is a hands-on lab-in-a-box. With only the Kit, a container with a lid to hold used solutions and a container of water, educators and students can demonstrate the investigative experiments anywhere — in a classroom, library or even outside.
The Kit includes physical science and chemistry investigations that inspire kids to learn science and chemistry. Students will:
- discuss and analyze physical vs chemical changes and collaborate about surprising color changes,
- think critically about indicators through a story about the Queen’s Capture,
- see two liquids change into a solid, then into a gas, and ask scientific questions about states of matter,
- evaluate evaporative cooling after extinguishing a flame,
- explore combustion — when it is safe and clean, and when it produces a poisonous gas,
- use and develop models to advance understanding of science and engineering.
Advanced Learning (Middle and High School)
- Reaction rates, ionic mobility, molecular interactions, evaporation, and endothermic / exothermic reactions can be reviewed.
- Graphing, plotting, estimating, formulas and balancing equations can be demonstrated using the kit.
- Three experiments (Time Reaction, Disappearing OrangeAde and Hard Water) plus a second Time Reaction set — between 24–80 investigations depending on solution amounts, with proportional adjustment for graphing different results.
Investigate, Analyze, Solve Complex Problems
Why Our Science Kit?
- Totally inclusive — everything needed is in the Kit; solution refills are available once depleted.
- Unique — educators can supplement curricula K–12.
- Elementary (K–5): physical vs chemical changes, indicators, states of matter.
- Middle (6–8): atoms, molecules, evaporative cooling, combustion, graphing and prediction from data.
- High school (9–12): molecular interactions, thermo chemistry, ionic mobility, stoichiometry and balancing equations.
